Allow me to introduce you to the Ginger Man. Being located in the state capital, our clientele includes legislators, politicians and judiciary appointees. They are drawn to our singularity, vast selection, excellent price ranges and such exclusive offerings as three ounce “tastes” and sampler “wine flights”. We serve lunch and dinner daily, assembling unique and special selections at both seatings to complement each meal.
Our current wine list, which changes seasonally, offers a generous number selection from the world’s major wine regions, reflecting our customers’ current requests while offering unconventional vintages rarely served by the glass. Storage facilities, located in our old stone and brick cellar, which holds everything at fairly stable temperatures, are comprised of a large walk-in cooler alongside rooms for both red and white wines. All bottles in each room lay flat in their bins and are organized by row, number and label. The cooler shelves are organized by each wine variety and labeled for each wine. Pricing is constantly and carefully observed as the daily wine specials continually change, and we try to avoid “overkill” on any particular selection. Usually, the cruvinet contains more expensive labels, ranging up to $10 a glass. Storage, pricing and inventory control at the Ginger Man is given great attention in every detail. With a total inventory of 1600 bottles, the breadth of our wine list represents the classic traditional wines as well as new and trendy selections.
Between our list, cruvinet and special offerings, we serve 75 different selections by the glass and 140 by the bottle. The Ginger Man Wine Bar and Restaurant maintains a noteworthy wine list, offering a variety of selections and vintages which serve to enhance interest in wines, then compliments that list with an exciting and often changing menu.
Ginger Man only purchases the freshest and finest ingredients such as breads, produce, meats and cheeses from locally operated and independently owned businesses. All meats are prepared and roasted on premise and all specialty sauces and salad dressings are proudly prepared by our culinary chefs. Our decadent desserts, such as our signature chocolate mousse or carrot cake topped with a lemon cream cheese sauce, are made fresh daily along with other unusual and classic dessert specials. Our educated culinary team is dedicated to providing our customers with the finest products available prepared by the latest methods and trends of cooking.
